A table provided by NEPA listed a total of 32 protected areas, however the shapefile provided only contained boundaries for 27. Those not included in the shapefile include: Mason River Protected Area, Kingston and St. Andrew Game Reserve, Knapdale Game Reserve, Reigate Game Reserve, Stanmore Hill Game Reserve, Portmore and Greater Portmore Game Reserve and Fairy Hill-Port Antonio Game Reserve. Fields for declaration date and act were appended and information included where possible by Mona GeoInformatics Institute (MGI). Generally, games reserves are declared under the Wild Life Protection Act (WLPA), and marine and national parks are deisgnated undert the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA) Act and are considered protected areas. All forest reserves are declared under the Forest Act and are protected areas. Please note that there are some overlaps. Dataset was reprojected to JAD 2001 and parish field appended as well by Mona GeoInformatics Institute (MGI).
